We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who thrives in a small and busy office environment.  Someone who is a great communicator, experienced in residential design, and comfortable doing take offs and estimating.

duties and responsibilities

This position consists of the following tasks:

  • Project estimation
  • Residential design in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Working with team members
  • Sales calls and visits
  • Customer relations
  • Various material pick ups from suppliers
  • Answering phones and maintaining relationships with clients
  • Calling various municipalities to confirm bylaws, zoning, and code related questions
qualifications
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and Revit Modeling
  • Minimum 2 years experience in residential design
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Ability to prioritize and work on several projects at once
  • Able to work independently
  • Strong in math skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Class 5 drivers license and reliable transportation
location

This is an in person position, not for someone who wishes to work remotely.  You must be a resident of Canada or have a Visa to work here.

As a High Performance Home builder we are known for our dedication to building quality Net Zero, sustainable homes.  Our work is located primarily in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia.  We have been established company building to an energy efficient standard since 1995.

JOB DESCRIPTION

A CARPENTER will have a minimum of 5 years experience in the construction industry and is a ticketed Journeyman or equivalent.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Residential form work, including insulated concrete forms
  • Framing, finishing, and supervision of trades
  • Oversee complete construction of a new home from start to finish
  • Read and understand blueprint and engineering documents
  • Lead and supervise a small crew
  • Manage sub-trades and work with suppliers
  • Oversee daily cleaning of a jobsite

Skills

  • Minimum 5 years experience in construction
  • Full understanding of construction tools
  • Comfortable working with a team and willing to take instructions
  • Full knowledge of the BC Building Code and standard construction practices
  • In depth understanding of the Work Safe BC regulations
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Hard worker
  • Strong attention to detail

Requirements

  • Journeyman Carpenter to equivalent
  • Some experience with insulated concrete forms or willing to learn
  • Fluent in English
  • Has own vehicle
  • First Aid training an asset

Compensation

  • Starting wage based on experience
  • Extended health care, dental, and life insurance after successful completion of 3 months employment
  • Hiring bonus of $2,000 after successful completion of 6 months probationary period

Labourer

Labourer

We are looking for labourers who are interested in learning about construction and enjoy working.

You may not have a lot of experience in construction, perhaps none at all.  However, you are willing to learn.  A labourer performs various tasks to assist members of our construction team, including site clean up, working with tools, and framing.

We require that you are fluent in English and have your own vehicle.

Wage depends on experience.  Benefits package available.

Architectural Drafting Technician

Architectural Drafting Technician

Sonbuilt Custom Homes is looking for an individual experienced in designing homes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing designs on their own and will demonstrate a creative and artistic ability in design work.   The successful candidate should have a certificate in an Architectural Drafting program with at least two years of working experience in AutoCad, Revit, and Photoshop.

This position involves working in our Abbotsford office, not from home.

Qualifications:

  • Must speak clear and fluent English
  • BC Building Code knowledge and some experience in dealing with local municipal jurisdictions.
  • Prepare floor layouts using Autocad as well as exterior elevations, sections and construction details.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCad, Revit, and Photoshop
  • Prepare specification templates detailed with material selections.
  • Able to creatively produce eye appealing designs.

CARPENTER APPRENTICE will have 2 or 3 years experience in the construction industry and is enrolled with ITA in the Carpentry program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in residential form work, including insulated concrete forms
  • Assist in framing and finishing
  • Overall site clean up

Skills

  • Minimum 2 years experience in construction
  • Understanding of construction tools
  • Comfortable working with a team and willing to take instructions
  • Some knowledge of the BC Building Code
  • Understanding of Work Safe BC regulations
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Hard worker
  • Strong attention to detail
