The Road to Becoming a Master Builder Started at Age 8

At age 8, when most boys are riding a bike or climbing on monkey bars, Jonathan Zerkee designed and built the playhouse you see here. With his parents blessing (and supervision) he borrowed his dad’s tools and went to work. At the end of that long summer, the playhouse of his dreams was complete.

Jonathan’s parents would say a Master Builder is not born, they are self made. His Mom and Dad watched Jonathan find his dream, hone his skills and pursue his passion of building from age 8 to today. They would say it took dedication, vision, commitment and a lot of hard work. They would say Jonathan is a self made craftsman.

The 10,000 hour rule states it takes about 10,000 hours for a person to master a technical set of skills and pave the way to becoming an expert in a particular field. Jonathan has far exceeded 10,000 hours and has gone on to become one of the highest quality homebuilders in Canada.

Today, now in his early 40’s, Jonathan builds Canada’s finest estate homes and custom houses for couples and families in the Fraser Valley. He passionately builds each house as if it were his own, paying special attention to even the smallest attention of details. Each home is designed and constructed with the greatest care for the family who will live and play in it.

Each Sonbuilt home meets the highest standards in the business, Jonathan’s standards. If you would like to see some examples of Jonathan’s work, see the Masterpiece Series, the Estate Series, and the Horizon Series.
